Introduction to Elemental Nutrient Formulas

Alpha Nutrition specializes in elemental nutrient formulas, the pure expression of nutrient biochemistry.  We provide a choice of nutrient modules so that food can be replaced, nutrient intake can be supplemented and balanced in a variety of ways. Two formulas, Alpha ENF and PMX can replace food completely. Four other formulas provide nutrient modules for special use. These formulas can be combined to adjust nutrient intake to individual needs.

There are three ideas used in the design of Alpha Nutrient formulas

1. The first idea is that we need to take in about 40 substances to be healthy and function well. These substances are nutrients and are available from foods as long we eat enough of the right foods every day.
2. The second idea is that we can eat the 40 nutrients in their pure form and avoid all the negative effects of eating foods. Eating pure nutrients also permits good nutrient absorption when digestive tract function is impaired.
3. The third idea is that optimal nutrition requires a carefully calculated and balanced intake of nutrients. The three ideas are combined in the design of the Alpha Nutrient formulas. Forty nutrients are combined to provide carefully calculated and balanced intake of nutrients

Elemental Nutrient Formulas (ENFs) are used in hospital medicine. They are used to manage digestive diseases and to provide adequate nourishment when eating food is undesirable or impossible.  We explored the use of ENFs in solving other common health problems. The traffic of non-nutrient chemicals through the body can be thought of as the "overburden" or cost of food intake. Reducing food-processing cost is a form of metabolic rest that has therapeutic applications in many diseases.

One of the therapeutic secrets of Alpha nutrient formulas is the avoidance of proteins or pieces of proteins known as peptides. Staple foods such as milk, eggs, wheat, and meat contain proteins that frequently cause immune responses and are the basic problem in delayed patterns of food allergy. Protein powders sold as "body-building" supplements can be a source of trouble. Alpha elemental formulas avoid all protein problems by providing a balanced set of  l-amino acids, the real nutrients derived from proteins by digestion of food.  Amino acids do not cause immune responses. One key idea is that if food is suspect in causing an illness, a food holiday using an ENF to supply nutrition would confirm or deny food involvement, usually within 10 days. If the food holiday proved successful, the Alpha Nutrition Program would become a standard method of redefining a healthier diet.

The most popular formula we make is Alpha ENF. We include this formula in most starter packs. If you need to replace food completely, then Alpha ENF is the best choice. The standard ENF is unflavored. You can choose the formula with Vanillin added as flavoring. If you do not want vegetable oil in the formula, then choose Alpha PMX. If you are diabetic, then order Alpha DMX. All our nutrients modules can be combined to achieve optimal nutrition. For example, when Alpha ENF, PMX and DMX are used long term as part of the day’s nutrition there is often a need to boost calcium and magnesium and Vitamin D intake. Alpha OMX supplies bone minerals: calcium, magnesium, Vitamin D, zinc, copper and manganese. To increase intake of nutrients responsible for bone growth and maintenance, Alpha OMX can be added in the dose range of 5 to 15 grams per day. If the goal is to reduce or eliminate protein intake, or to supplement protein intake, amino acids can be added to the diet as Alpha AAX in a dose range of 10 to 50 Grams per day

Alpha DMX boosts the intake of nutrients that have a demonstrated benefit in preventing and/or reducing the negative consequences of diabetes 2 and arterial disease. Alpha DMX can provide nutritional support whenever food intake is restricted because of disease.
